Check This Out! It’s one of our favorite things to say when we’re sharing something we’re excited about, especially wine. For us it’s a signal and an invitation to something exciting.
Check This Out! Tasting is built on the success of our Wine Opinion Wednesday (WOW) Tastings and our new Bottle Share Thursdays. We love the informal fun that everyone enjoys at WOW. On Thursdays we’ve watched our guests light up as they try wines from a higher tier than what we normally offer by the glass. We decided to combine these fun ways to enjoy wine. You can think of Check This Out! as a relaxed tasting atmosphere like WOW but with top notch wines.
Check This Out is a sit down tasting where we’ll open 4 - 6 wines for us to taste and discuss. The wines are from all over the world, with all sorts of grapes, both familiar and obscure. This is a relaxed way for you to experience what the fuss is about with higher quality wines, participate in thoughtful conversation and add to your knowledge of what we offer at Pulling Corks.
We’ve been pouring and enjoying a lot of Chablis lately, both at the bar and upstairs, so we figured why not go deep into a region we love. For this Check This Out we’re featuring the wines of Roland Lavantereux, whose Chablis we’ve poured on our Oyster Nights. Chablis is part of Burgundy, which means a lot of fussy labels and distinctions between vineyards that are very close together. We’ll be enjoying 5 wines going from the regional level all the way to Grand Cru, and if you don’t know what that means, that’s ok, it’s part of the idea behind the tasting. We’re wanting to share both the information about how the region is organized and more importantly the experience of tasting the wines side by side!

Please note we’ll be tasting ONLY WHITE WINES at this tasting, and the grape of Chablis is CHARDONNAY. These are not the butter bombs of California, but they will have some richness and power offset by steely minerality.
